Click on the following link. Power of Persuasion. Here you will find several different propaganda posters that were used during WWII. You job is look them all over and read about each one. Choose 5 different posters that interest you for your project. You need to create a display with pictures of the posters and a short write up about each one. Don’t forget to title your display. You are going to view an interactive time line about the bombing of Pearl Harbor. Following the link and click on the attack map. You job is to take notes on the attack and then create your own time line. You also need to click listen to one of the actual testimonies of people who were involved in the attack and write a short summary of what they talked about. Post this in the comments section. (only pick about 8 of the most important times to include on your time line)

Franklin D. Roosevelt

Franklin D. Roosevelt was elected President of the United States in 1932. Make sure to click her to learn more about FDR. Americans were desperate for a change and so they looked to President Roosevelt’s and his promise of a New Deal. To comfort the American people and to keep them informed, Roosevelt gave about 30 fireside chats. A fireside chat is a Presidential address to the nation characterized by a warm, intimate, and informal tone. The tradition of the fireside chat was begun by President Franklin D. Roosevelt on March 12, 1933, speaking to the nation by radio shortly after his inauguration, in the midst of the Great Depression. He discussed the banking crisis, the bank holiday he had declared on March 6 and its results, and his plan to reopen banks the next day. Roosevelt made sure to talk to the people in a way they could understand and a way that made them confident in his leadership. Click here to listen to one of FDR’s fireside chats. Riding the Rails

During The Great Depression many people decided to hop on the trains in search for a better life. Most of the people who took on this adventure were kids about your age. Thousands of kids would jump on freight trains and ride from town to town looking for work. The people who would ride the rails so became known as hobos. Click here to learn more about hobos. Hobos had many signs they used to communicate to each other. Click on the link to learn more about the signs they used.

Assignment: Choose one of the following stories to blog about. In your own words tell us who you are writing about and what their life was like during the depression.
